There may not be much real difference between Blackhorse North and Blackhouse South, but it sure FEELS like there is. And of the two, Blackhorse South outdoes the North course -- and pretty much any other public access course in the Houston area -- on all fronts. It is a premier challenge in both length and layout, using undulating fairways, mounded greens, and excellent bunkering to defend itself against lack of elevation change (but, as is far too often the case with higher quality courses, length on most Par 3s is punitive, bordering on diabolical). Greens are VERY smooth and fast, which tend to make one want to put more break in the putt than is actually there sometimes. Get to know your speed as early as you can. An honest assessment of a course like this should leave you with the feeling that, even if you didn't fall in love with your scorecard, you enjoyed the course as if you had. And you'll be back.
